Salmon Fishing In Alaska
Prince William Sound offers world class fishing opportunities in protected waters with
breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife. Although close to Anchorage, none of the
locations we fish are road accessible which limit the number of fishermen. We are often
the only boat anchored in a cove or bay, the only people fishing in a stream, cove or
passage - an unequaled fishing experience.
David Pinquoch, owner of Alaska Good Time Charters LLC, has been offering guided fishing
charters in Prince William Sound since 1991. David started fishing in Alaska in 1962,
at the age of 5. In 1985 he began fishing in Prince William Sound- he has the experience
to make a difference in your fishing success.
We offer two ways to fish Prince William Sound –
4-5 day live aboard fishing adventures on our 50’ yacht Good Times.
Day trip salmon fishing aboard our roomy 40’ vessel,
Fool’s Gold. Although we do catch halibut, ling cod and rockfish aboard Fool’s Gold on
some trips, we do not offer day trip halibut or lingcod charters.
What our guests have to say-
“You guys rock, The Batman and Robin of the Sea. Best fishing of my life!” Alabama
“Great trip, fishing and fun! Lasting memories were made.” Minnesota
“Exceptional experience, outstanding Captain and crew. Words not adequate to describe.” Wisconsin
“I’ve been to Alaska 5 times in the last 10 years, 2 have been with Alaska Good Time Charters and they have been the best times in Alaska, they know where the fish are. We look forward to the next time.” Jim Smith, Oregon
- 4-5 Day Guided Fishing for Halibut, Salmon, Lingcod, Rockfish and more
“If the fish won’t come to the lodge, take the lodge to the fish.”
Alaska Good Time Charters LLC specializes in custom 4 and 5 day guided fishing adventures.
Choose an all fishing adventure or combine fishing with sightseeing or unguided hunting.
Our Alaska fishing charters are live-aboard, our yacht acts as our floating mobile lodge
which allows us to access the best fishing in Prince William Sound. We are not limited
each day by distance from a port or lodge which gives you more time to fish.
Fishing options include deep sea fishing for halibut, rock fish, ling cod and salmon
sharks. Salt and fresh water fishing is available for salmon, dolly varden and
cutthroat trout. More times than not, we limit out when fishing for salmon. We often
throw back halibut because our guests have all they want to bring home. Fishing takes
place on our 50’ yacht, from beaches and in fresh water streams. Prince William Sound
is protected from the Gulf of Alaska and usually provides calm water for Alaska fishing.
Nights are spent anchored in protected coves which can provide additional fishing
opportunities.
June 10th to September 10th is traditionally the best time to fish for salmon and halibut
on the same trip. Ling Cod season opens July 1st. May and early June can provide excellent
fishing, although catching is less consistent. Early season charters work great combined
with hunting or sightseeing.
Our yacht, Good Times, was designed and built as a live-aboard yacht. It offers 3
private guest cabins that sleep 2 each, 2 heads with walk-in showers, a large salon to
relax in, a large galley for great meals and a covered cockpit (outside deck) for those
less than perfect days. She has a full size refrigerator, freezer, clothes dryer and
Jenn-Aire oven. Good Times is comfortable for parties of 6, seaworthy and dependable -
it’s the right tool for the job.
Services provided include guided fishing, lodging aboard our yacht, home cooked meals,
deep sea and spinning tackle, lures, bait, ice, fish cleaning and filleting.
Fly fishermen will need to provide their own equipment and everyone is invited to bring
their lucky lure.
We are based at the port of Whittier, 60 miles south of Anchorage and are road
accessible. We can accommodate up to 6 fishermen. Parties larger than 6 can be
accommodated using two boats. Parties of 2 – 3 can charter the boat exclusively or be
combined with another party.

- Day Trip Salmon Charters
- Salmon Fishing/Glacier Tour Combos
Whether you prefer a full day of salmon fishing or a half day of fishing and a half day of
sightseeing, it is not a myth that a bad day of fishing beats a good day at work.
Wally Noerenberg Hatchery is the largest salmon hatchery in North America and is located
about an hour boat ride from Whittier. In June and early July we target the thousands
of chum salmon that return to this hatchery. Chum salmon are a fun, challenging and
sometimes frustrating fish. Some days fish will be jumping all around yet getting them
to bite will be difficult. Other days it is difficult for the crew to keep up with all
the fish being netted. Either way, it’s a great day of fishing. Beginning mid-July
silver (coho) salmon return to Prince William Sound. Silvers are voracious eaters and
when they are hungry, hang on to your pole. Hooking several silvers as we drift through
a school is an exciting adventure. Although we don’t normally target halibut, lingcod
and rockfish, they are sometimes caught as “bycatch” while salmon fishing.
Day trip salmon fishing charters are aboard our 40’ vessel, Fool’s Gold. Although we can
accommodate up to 18 passengers, we fish no more than 12 at one time. We provide fishing
tackle, lures and bait. Our crew will bleed and ice your fish. Upon return to port your
fish will be cleaned and filleted. Fee’s Custom Seafoods offer vacuum packaging, freezing
and shipping of your catch. If you want to take your fish with you we recommend a cooler
with ice available at your vehicle.
Want to go along but don’t want to fish? Let us know at the time of booking and receive
a $50 discount.
